2 months ago my family, more specifically my loving grandpa, won a FREE stay on an island in the Thousand Islands that included gift cards and other tourist events in and around Gananoque. I was so blessed and lucky to make the trip and stay for the week. The island was beautiful and it was amazing that most of my close family was able to make it, including, Echo and Zeus, the dogs.
One of the things we could to do was a helicopter ride. Honestly is was so amazing and totally recommend going on one if you’re ever in Gananoque I’m not much of a landscape photographer but I got many beautiful photos (and of course one or two photos for the pilot).
My possible favourite part of the trip was taking the Ganaoque Boat Line to Boldt Castle; a once abandoned castle that was build for Boldt’s wife, before she died tragically before it was finished. She never ended up seeing the castle and Boldt, heartbroken, didn’t see the point in finishing it if he couldn’t live in it with her. Now it’s open as a tourist attraction and the castle is beautiful. It a six story, 120 room castle, complete with tunnels, a powerhouse, Italian gardens, a drawbridge, alster tower (children’s playhouse) and a dove cote!!
